GES Introduces Strategy to Assist 2024 WASSCE Students Awaiting Results for University Admission
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a plan to ensure students who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) gain university admission while awaiting their results.
According to a report by MyNewsGh.com, GES is working with key stakeholders, including the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and tertiary institutions, to address the timing gap between the release of WASSCE results and university admission deadlines.
The Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah, emphasized the need for a solution to this long-standing issue during a stakeholder meeting. He noted that the strategy includes aligning admission timelines with WAEC’s schedule and encouraging universities to accept provisional admissions based on predicted grades or interim assessments provided by senior high schools.

Dr. Nkansah assured parents and students that GES is committed to ensuring equitable access to higher education for all eligible candidates. He also urged the public to remain calm as GES collaborates with relevant partners to streamline the process.
This initiative has been lauded as a proactive approach to addressing a critical challenge in Ghana’s education system. As reported by MyNewsGh.com, if successfully implemented, it could set a precedent for smoother transitions for future cohorts of WASSCE graduates.
