Mahama Thanks United States for Airlifting Ghanaian Engineers to Jamaica
President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his appreciation to the United States for supporting Ghana in airlifting army engineers to Jamaica to assist with post-hurricane reconstruction.
Speaking ahead of the deployment, President Mahama thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump, along with the government and people of the United States, for making the mission possible.
He noted that one of the major challenges facing the operation had been transporting the engineers and their equipment from Ghana to Jamaica. The U.S. government stepped in to provide crucial airlift support, enabling the team to travel from Accra to Kingston.
A C-17 aircraft was arranged to carry both the troops and their supplies for the humanitarian mission.

President Mahama said the deployment aims to support the people of Jamaica as they rebuild after the hurricane’s devastation. He described the initiative as a strong symbol of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Jamaica.
He wished the engineers a successful mission and safe return, praying for God’s protection over the Ghana Armed Forces.
The president further expressed hope that the operation would deepen the longstanding ties between Ghana and Jamaica. He concluded by once again thanking the United States for its support and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to global cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
